Current Year's Goals Attainment Report
This table demonstrates where the University met (or failed to meet) its 2001 goals.  The "Total Movement" column shows the number of employees hired or promoted into the seven job groups. Goals were set in areas where women or minorities were underutilized, i.e., there was a higher percentage of women or minorities available in the work force than were employed at the University.  Based on data from October 31, 2000, for example, (see table on p. 46) there were 34 employees in the H10 (executives, administrators, managers) job group, nine of whom were women.   According to information from the United States census, if we employed the percentage of women in the H10 category that have the required skills and are in the work force in our recruitment area (the nation in this case) 47.75 percent of the 34 employees would be women.  Instead 26.47 percent were (see table on p. 46).  Women are thus underutilized in the H10 job group. For 2001, then, the university's goal was for 47.75 percent of the new hires or promotions to the H10 group to be women.  Three individuals were hired into the group, one of whom was a woman.  Accordingly 33.3 percent of the total movement into the group were women and we failed to meet our 47.75 percent goal.
The chart shows that we also failed to meet our goal of 18.06 percent in the H60 (skill crafts) job group where none of the four employees hired or promoted were women.  As is apparent from the chart, we had goals for "total minority" which we failed to meet in the H10 and H20 groups and met in H30, H40 and H70.  Goals for African Americans were not met in H10 and H20 and were met in H30 and H70.  None of the Latino goals set for the H10, H20 and H30 groups were met.  The single goal for Asian Americans in the H30 group was not met.  No goals were set for Native Americans because their availability is so low.
