SRU COACHES WILL TRADE PLAYBOOKS FOR MENUS

TO RAISE MONEY FOR SPRING SERVICE-LEARNING PROJECTS

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –Four Slippery Rock University coaches will turn their playbooks in for menus as they become the Wolf Creek School Café wait staff Feb. 26 helping raise funds to support “Care Break 2003,” a program that will offer community service in five cities across the nation over spring break.

The coach/wait staff will be part of the “Dynamite Dinner” project sponsored by SRU’s Institute for Community, Service-Learning and Nonprofit Leadership. Tips earned will go toward defraying costs for some 65 students taking part in the institute’s annual community-service project trips in March. This year’s projects will be launched in San Francisco, Phoenix, Atlanta, East St. Louis and Memphis in March.

The dinner will be held from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Reservations may be made directly with the café.

Coaches serving as waiters and waitresses include Vic Campagna, football offensive coordinator, John Foster, football defensive coordinator, Noreen Herlihy, woman’s soccer head coach, and John M. Papa, head track and cross country coach.
