I have been a registered nurse since
l987 with a variety of experiences including pediatrics, adult
medicine, ICU, and home health care. Graduating from the
University of Pittsburgh in 2000, I have been employed as a
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for 2 years.
I was having a difficult time
finding employment in my specialty and I felt that having a family
certificate would broaden my opportunities especially in the rural
setting which I prefer to practice.
Having had experiences as a
registered nurse in many fields, I chose the family certification
option/post masters program.
Slippery Rock's program appealed to
me because of the location and reasonable tuition. This
particular program was highly recommended by many of my
colleagues. I have found the staff of all three campuses to
be very helpful and supportive of my career and educational
needs.
I feel I am much more marketable
having both pediatric and family certifications. I would
highly recommend this program to all nurse practitioners who have a
specialization and want to enhance their career.
