CLARION, Pa. -- The nationally ranked Slippery Rock University baseball team recorded its sixth straight doubleheader sweep and extended its current win streak to a school-record 13 games Saturday afternoon as they swept Clarion University 2-1 and 8-0.

The Rock, ranked 14th in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America national poll and tied for 19th in the Collegiate Baseball magazine poll, improved its record to 22-5 overall, 6-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.

Clarion, who came into the game having won six of its last seven games, now falls to 7-14 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC-Western Division.

Senior Mike Sikorski (White Oak/McKeesport HS) (4-1) and junior Steve Norris (Clearfield/Clearfield HS) (4-0) both pitched complete game two-hitters.

In the first game of the double header The Rock scored both of their runs on solo homeruns. Senior catcher Luke Mollis (Charleroi/Charleroi HS) hit his first of the year in third inning while sophomore left fielder Matt Kozusko (Latrobe/Latrobe HS) hit his third to put The Rock up in the seventh inning.

In the second game, The Rock bats came alive as they hit four home runs. Senior second baseman Alan Reichl (Pittsburgh/Montour HS) hit a pair of solo home runs. Also contributing in the effort junior right fielder Jason Curry (Slippery Rock/Slippery Rock HS) hit a two run homer and junior designated hitter Ben Marzullo (Brookville/Brookville HS) hit his team-leading seventh of the season.

With the wins Saturday, The Rock improved its record vs. NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional rivals to 13-3.

The Rock will be back in action on Monday April 7th as they play host to Gannon in a 1 p.m. twinbill at Jack Critchfield Park rescheduled from last Monday, March 31.
