Liberal Arts Philosophy Major

The Liberal Arts Major in Philosophy is a 30-credit hour program for students seeking a broad understanding of human existence, focusing on either the Humanities and Fine Arts (HFA), the Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS), or the Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM). The program involves four required core courses, three courses chosen from on of the three tracks, and the remaining courses chosen from any of the department's offerings. It is also recomended that an independent study be done on a topic of the student's intrest.

Introduction to Philosophy
(Phil 101) may be counted as an elective if taken as a first course.
Independent Study (Phil 490) may be taken as an elective.
Any Modern Authors and Issues (Phil 373) or Selected Topics (Phil 498) approved by the Chairperson satisfied one of the track requirements.
^ These courses are normally taught only once every four semesters; be sure to schedule them when they are offered.
