Affairs - Assessment Model
The Division of Student
Affairs will continually assess the learning and development of
students as a result of programs and services provided through its
various departments. In addition, student and other user
satisfaction will be measured for the services, programs, and
facilities provided for the campus community
Each unit within the
Division will have a written plan and will assess outcomes at least
once within the Five-Year Program Review. Departments will survey
students and other users to measure their degree of satisfaction
with services, programs and facilities annually
Student Learning and
Development Outcomes
It is the view of the Division of
Student Affairs that the three outcomes, competence, a sense
of purpose, identity, and integrity,
encompass all major dimensions related to student learning and
development. The three outcomes will be easily remembered and
articulated by all members of the Division
- Competence
Students will demonstrate competence
and skills in the areas of communication, critical thinking,
decision making, leadership, interpersonal and social relations,
and technology. Athletic and recreational skills will be developed
and measured for students who select to be involved in
intercollegiate sports or recreational activities
- A Sense of Purpose
Students will demonstrate the
knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed in achieving professional
and personal goals and to function as a well person in the global
community
- Identity and Integrity
Students will demonstrate their
level of self-awareness and personal development through the
assessment of personal and professional values and ethics. This
will demonstrate an appreciation of human differences and diverse
cultural, social, and political perspectives
II. Assessing Student Services,
Facilities, and Programs
- Determine Student and Other User
Needs
Departments within the Division of
Student Affairs will determine student and other user needs by
surveying the appropriate campus and community members.
The Division will determine the
viability of offering requested programs and services, continuing
the current services and programs, and offering those services and
programs which are in keeping with the educational vision and
mission of Slippery Rock University.
- Measure Student and Other User
Satisfaction
Departments within the Division will
survey students and other users to measure their degree of
satisfaction with services, programs, and facilities. Reports will
be made annually to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Professional staff will recommend appropriate changes to services,
programs, or facilities, based on student and other user
satisfaction, keeping in mind the vision and mission of Slippery
Rock University
III. ASSESSMENT TEAM
The Division Assessment Team
composed of six (6) members of the Division and one Faculty Liaison
will meet at least once a semester to review the assessment
activity within the Division and will submit a report annually to
the Vice President for Student Affairs regarding these
activities
Responsibilities of the Student
Affairs Assessment Team

Identify and report to the Division,
assessment that is ongoing within the Division and report annually
the availability and results of all new assessment
activity

Identify and report to the Division,
assessment within the University that may be of interest or benefit
to the Division
-
Recommend the assessment focus of
the Division annually and longitudinally
-
Implement a timeline and monitor the
timely completion of assessment within the Division
-
Review and analyze data and
conclusions from divisional units and provide a comprehensive
report on the outcomes, user needs and satisfaction for the
Division
-
Disseminate an annual report of the
activity and findings for the Division
-
Each team member will serve on a
University Outcomes for Student Learning and Development Task Force
sub-committee
