A quick reminder
that Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University Chancellor Bhawani Shanker
Garg and Slippery Rock University Interim President Robert Smith
will sign a new faculty/student exchange agreement at 5 p.m. Friday
[May 23] providing an opportunity for photos/videotape. Both
administrators will offer comments on the expanded opportunities
that will be offered students and faculty at both universities as
part of the agreement.
The ceremony is set for
the University Club of North Hall.
Rajasthan University
is located in Udaipur, India, some 90-minutes from New Delhi.
(A detailed news release was sent previously.) The first exchange
under the new agreement could take place spring semester (January
2004).
SRU’s signature international initiatives program
currently has more than two dozen similar exchange agreements
allowing students to undertake a semester or entire year of study
at an international university. Faculty are permitted to teach at
participating exchange universities and are brought to the SRU
campus, particularly in the modern languages area. The agreements
involve universities in China, Korea, Japan, England, Germany,
France, Ireland, Scotland, Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland,
Slovakia, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia and other
countries.
Dr. Donald Kerchis is
director of SRU’s Office of International
Initiatives.
