Can My Parents Access Loans to Help with my Educational Expenses?

Yes. Once you have received your award letter/notification from the SRU Financial Aid Office, you can determine if you need additional funds to help with your educational costs. One option to help with your educational costs is through the Federal parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) program. This credit-based loan requires that the parents complete a separate loan application/promissory note. Parents are encouraged to contact AES/PHEAA at 1-800-692-7392 to initiate the pre-approval process. Parents can access additional information about the PLUS loan on our financial aid web page at http://www.sru.edu/finaid (then click on Forms and Publications). We strongly recommend that parents planning to utilize a PLUS loan initiate the PLUS loan application process at least six-to-eight weeks prior to the start of school.
