Student Union for Minority Affairs (SUMA)
SUMA is the Student Union for Minority Affairs. This is an organization that prides itself in being an all inclusive organization on the campus of Slippery Rock University promoting campus unity and diversity. Unity is needed to bring all organizations together to work towards a common goal. SUMA is here to provide additional funding as well as offer guidance to umbrella organizations, but not to be mistaken for taking the voice of any individual organization.
SUMA’s Affiliated Organizations include, but are not limited to: Black Action Society; Building Bridges; Chosen Generation Gospel Choir; Internations Club; National Pan Hellenic Council; RockOUT; Sister to Sister; and University Programming Board Cultural Diversity

Black Action Society (BAS)
The Black Action Society is one of the oldest cultural student groups on SRU’s campus, dating back to the 1970’s. The mission of the Black Action Society is to promote the African American experience at a predominantly white institution, while serving as a support system for African American students. Meetings are held every first Wednesday of the month.

Building Bridges
The purpose of Building Bridges is to promote diversity and cultural awareness in all aspects of life to students, faculty, and staff at the university through active engagement and discussion of social issues and ideas. This is a non-profit organization that meets every Tuesday in the Alumni House at 8pm.

Chosen Generation Gospel Choir
The Chosen Generation Gospel Choir is a ministry, not only an organization. Created to be a light on the SRU campus, it provides encouragement through song to ensure wisdom and knowledge through spiritual study and fellowship. Its mission is to extend love and compassion to all, as well as other student organizations. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays and Sundays from 6pm-8pm in Swope Music Hall.

Internations Club
The purpose of this club is to develop and maintain cordial relationships between international, non-international students and the Slippery Rock Univesity community. This organization also executes programs that entertain, enlighten, and educate the American community about foreign cultures. Meetings are held tentatively on Wednesdays at 4:15pm in Room 203 in the University Union. Membership fees are $5.00 per semester.

National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC)
The National Pan Hellenic Council is a union of the nine historically African American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities. The NPHC was structured on May 10, 1930 on the campus of Howard University. These organizations come together to address issues of mutual interest and concerns as well as implement programs, activities, and service projects. The NPHC was structured in 2005 at Slippery Rock University with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. These sororities and fraternity are still a part of the NPHC at Slippery Rock, with the exception of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, which was added in Fall 2008.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded at Howard University on January 15, 1908. This sorority strives to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to alleviate problems concerning girls and women, and maintain a progressive interest in college life. The Mu Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has four members at Slippery Rock University.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated was founded at Howard University on January 9, 1914. This fraternity consists of men dedicated to enhancing minds and promoting systematic fellowship, African American freedom, justice, equal rights, and service to communities. The Alpha Zeta Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated has eight members at Slippery Rock University.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 16, 1920 at Howard University. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is a non-profit organization that fosters the ideals of service, sisterhood, scholarship, and finer womanhood through campus and community charitable endeavors. The Lambda Sigma chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has seven members at Slippery Rock University.

RockOUT
RockOUT at Slippery Rock University is for the members of SRU's Diverse Community. RockOUT was created to provide an opportunity for personal growth and education regarding lifestyles and to extend an opportunity for social interaction among members of the gay, lesbian and bisexual community and others. RockOUT also provides support for concerned individuals regarding lifestyles and the group seeks to enhance the relationships between gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans-, and other communities and the Slippery Rock University community.

Sister-to-Sister
Sister to Sister is an organization that is geared towards the empowerment of women of all cultures. The purpose is to empower women through positive influence and leadership. Meetings are held every Tuesday in the Cultural Center at 6pm.

Student Organization Of Latinos/Hispanic and Allies (SOL)
Organization of latinos, hispanics and allies (sol) is Slippery rocks home to many students of hispanic/latino descent on campus. SOL is also open to any student interested in the culture as well! The mission of SOL is to provide latino/hispanic students and allies an opportunity to evoke academic excellence, leadership, cultural diversity, and cultural awareness in a common setting where all students may freely exchange ideas and discuss pertinent social issues. The latino Student organization will strive to encourage all students to foster better social relations and cultural harmony within the university.

UPB Cultural Diversity
The purpose of this committee as part of the University Program Board is to promote cultural awareness and acceptance on Slippery Rock University’s campus. Students are provided with the opportunity to learn about and embrace cultures that are different from their own by having interesting, fun, culturally expressive and informative campus events and activities. Meetings are held Wednesdays at 6pm in the UPB Office on the first floor of the University Union, past the Cultural Center.
