How do I Use my
"H:" and "I:" Drives? What are they for?
When you log into the SRU network,
you are provided access to storage space on one or more network
servers. All SRU faculty, staff and students receive 25MB of secure
storage space on the SRU network mapped in Windows as the "H"
drive.
NOTE: When you log-in to
either the "H" or "I" drive, you may be asked to authenticate
several times (this is because of the firewall) and you may be
asked the domain: it is srunet.
The H: (HOME) Drive
(located in “My
Computer” of campus computers) is a drive that holds
personal folders for each and every Student, Staff, and Faculty.
These personal folders can hold 25MB of data. Any file can be saved
to these folders and are only accessible to the specific user after
the log into the SRU network.
To access this space open "My
Computer" and then click on the disc icon with your user name (e.g.
tim.kirk$ in the example below - Macintosh users running Mac OS X should contact the help desk
for details about connecting to the H & I drives on campus).
You can copy files to and from you H drive as you would to any
other storage media. Once something is saved to the H drive, you
have access to it from any networked computer by simply logging
into the SRU network. The H drive can be accessed off campus from a
newtorked computer running the Windows OS by using the SRUWEBACCESS
tool to mount it :

Looking again at the sample "My
Computer" window shown below, you will observe another network
drive: the "I" or 'classworks' drive. This network drive is
primarily used by faculty to distribute class projects, homework
assignments and related information. Like the H drive, this drive
is automatically mounted when you log into the SRU network and
can be accessed off campus by
using the SRUWEBACCESS tool to mount it.

The I: (CLASSWORK)
Drive (located in
“My Computer” of campus computers) is a faculty
folder. These folders hold faculty’s work, syllabi, and
homework. All students are able to access these folders when
logging on to the network. These folders are organized by
departments/faculty. If your English professor assigned a homework
assignment on the I: drive, look for the
“English” folder, then the professor’s
name.
The I or "classwork" drive can be
accessed from any networked computer (Mac, Linux, and Windows) by
using an Internet browser to connect to it as a web site at http://classwork.sru.edu. Simply enter your SRU user
name and password in the authentication dialog box to obtain read
access to the I drive from anywhere on the Internet. Use your
normal SRU user name & password - srunet is your
domain:
