SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY LIBRARY OPENS
COLLECTION TO RESIDENTS OF 16057 ZIP CODE
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock
University’s Bailey Library has opened its half-million
volume collection to all residents of Slippery Rock Borough and
Slippery Rock Township – those living in the 16057 ZIP
code.
"Our
purpose is to serve," says Philip Tramdack, library director, "and
what better way to serve our community than to open our collection
to anyone in the borough or township who is interested." Tramdack
points to the library's extensive collection of children's books as
well as its vast holdings of government
documents.
The
library will issue borrower cards to all Slippery Rock residents
applying, he explains, noting the library is strong in research and
reference materials and has a good selection of both fiction and
non-fiction works.
"Earlier
this year we opened the library shelves to school teachers in the
region, and, noting that success we decided to expand by allowing
the general public from the borough and township to borrow,"
Tramdack explains.
Those
wishing to make use of the borrowing privilege need only fill out a
borrower's application in person at the circulation desk. Those
under the age 18 need a parent's authorization.
