The Macoskey Center has
been involved with the annual ARC Healthfest for the past two
years. This acts as a forum to connect sustainable agriculture to
not only ecological issues, but also personal health issues.
Commercially available food products with residual chemicals and/or
hormones due to conventional agricultural practices have the
potential to cause harmful effects on consumers. Macoskey Center
staff participation in this event is a chance for public education
through displays, brochures, and other activities to spread a
message to support ideas of "Buy Organic", "Buy Local", and "Grow
your Own". - Source: Brooke Cuttino, Louise Liller, and
Thomas Reynolds, project descripton, 2002
