Welcome to my web page! My name is Dr. John A. Bavaro, RN. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Professional Studies located in the College of Business, Information, and Social Sciences. I am also the Program Coordinator of the Health Services Management Program. In addition, I serve as the faculty advisor for the SRU Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
This site contains information about my background, professional, and teaching experiences. It also contains a listing of the courses I have taught and am currently teaching. Some of the current projects I am working on are listed so that you can get a sense of some of the kinds of work I a do in addition to my teaching. Some of the information contained on these pages is under construction because I am in the process of updating the information. Please re-visit regularly for new updates.
One of the most exciting, important announcements is the move of the Health Services Administration program from the School of Business to the Department of Professional studies. The move was made official in July of 2007. Along with this move came the change in degree and major. Previously, our students received a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration with a major in Health Services Management. Students still completing their studies in the "old" program will receive this degree. Beginning with the Fall of 2007, students will receive a Bachelor's of Science in Health with a concentration in Health Services Administration. The transition to the Department of Professional Studies enables us to blend the positive features of our program with the excellent faculty and resources available throughout the University.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, healthcare is, and will continue to be the largest employer through at least 2025! Check out where some of our alumni are working for more examples! If you are interested in the Health Services Administration program, please contact me.
In addition to this news, I would like to let everyone know that I advise students majoring in Health Services Administration program and teach the a number of the courses in this major. If you are interested in knowing more about the advisement process, please follow the link re: advisement.
I have also included a link for alumni of our program. This link continues efforts currently underway to develop a network to benefit current students and graduates from the Health Services Administration Program. We welcome you to become part of our alumni!
