SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Senior Derek Meyerson
(Hatfield/North Penn HS) scored a total of 20 goals to
lead Slippery Rock University to victory in five of six matches
last weekend.
Matt Cunningham (Coopersville, MI/Jenison HS) added 16
goals, while senior Josh Buckley (Wyomissing/Wilson
HS) had 14.
Sophomore Arseni Grokhovski (San Antonio. TX/Tom C.
Clark HS) chipped in nine goals; sophomore Aaron Chapple
(Reading/Reading HS) and Ryan Holt had seven
each; Chris Hokanson and sophomore Andrew Morrison
(Homewood, IL/Homewood Flossmoor HS) had five each;
Lee Sharbaugh four; senior Noah Randall (Milford,
OH/Milford HS) added three and sophomore goalie Glenn
Reepmeyer (Ballwin, MO/Parkway West HS) had one
goal.
The Rock (9-4 overall) thumped hosting Grove City College by a 20-3
score on Friday, then won three matches on Saturday – 20-0
over Penn State-Behrend, 18-7 over Cal Tech and 17-8 over Gannon
– in SRU’s Morrow Field House pool. On Sunday, in the
Morrow pool, SRU dropped an 8-7 decision to Salem International
before closing out the weekend with an 11-2 win over
Mercyhurst.
In the win over Grove City, Cunningham scored seven goals,
while Meyerson scored five and Chapple,
Grokhovski and Randall added two each. Holt
and Hokanson scored one goal each.
The highlight of The Rock’s win over Penn State-Behrend was
Reepmeyer recording his first-ever shutout. Buckley
and Morrison scored four goals each against PS-B, while
Meyerson added three and Grokhovski, Holt and
Sharbaugh had two each. Chapple, Cunningham
and Hokanson scored one goal each.
Meyerson scored seven times in the win over Cal Tech, while
Buckley had five goals. Chapple and Cunningham
added two goals each and Grokhovski and Morrison had
one each. Reepmeyer recorded 10 saves.
Cunningham and Holt scored four goals each, while
Buckley, Grokhovsky and Meyerson added three
each in the win over Gannon. Reepmeyer recorded 11
saves.
Buckley, Cunningham and Meyerson each scored a
pair of goals and Randall added one goal in the loss to
Salem International. Reepmeyer had 16 saves.
Hokanson’s three goals led the way in the win over
Mercyhurst. Chapple, Morrison and Sharbaugh
added two goals each. Grokhovski and Reepmeyer scored
one goal each.
The Rock returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Gannon
University in Erie to play Mercyhurst.
