Past Workshops:

Praxis I Mathematics Workshop

The Slippery Rock University Center of the Collaborative for Excellence in Teacher Preparation in Pennsylvania (CETP-PA) will be conducting a series of Praxis I Mathematics workshops to prepare elementary and secondary education students for the Mathematics section of Praxis I.  The sessions will take place on three Saturdays starting on January 28, 2006 and will last 3 hours, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

CETP-PA Science Workshop

Science Workshop Abstract

The workshop will run from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM on November 5, 2005.

Topic:  Identification of Local Flora Using a Window-Based Computer Program Identification of local flora can be tedious and require a significant background in identification methods.  The personal computer offers the possibility for automated identification.

In this workshop we will introduce participants to a simple Windows based multi-entry key that is complemented by digital images to be used for comparative purposes to identify native, naturalized, or cultivated conifer genera that are included in the flora of North America north of Mexico. Not a prior knowledge of conifer genera is necessary to successfully navigate through the key nor is knowledge in the use of, or creation of, a key necessary.  Participants will be led through both a field and laboratory identification exercise and will receive a free copy of the key for use in their classrooms at the end of the workshop.

*We are offering 4 hours of Act 48 credit for this workshop
