RECITAL
SLIPPERY
ROCK, Pa. – To raise money for student instruments and
scholarships, Slippery Rock University’s percussion
department will host a benefit classical and jazz recital 8 p.m.
Nov. 1 at Swope Music Hall. Musicians will perform Latin,
jazz and ragtime. The suggested donation is $10.

Kimberly Glover, will headline. Special guests include Steve Snyder
on piano and Paul Thompson on bass. Synder, a professor at Moorhead
State University (Ky.) formerly taught at SRU. Thompson is a
Pittsburgh-based musician.
“We
are performing this recital in hopes that it will become an annual
event,” Glover said. “Proceeds will go
toward the purchase of much-needed percussion equipment.
Future recitals will help begin an SRU percussion
scholarship.”
The
first half of the concert will feature the Glovers on marimbas and
a Latin percussion duet, a solo marimba piece featuring Kimberly
Glover and a ragtime xylophone solo with rhythm section
accompaniment.
The
second half will feature a jazz trio with David Glover on drums,
Snyder and Thompson. The trio will perform standard and original
jazz works.
Donations
will be accepted at the door.
