Course Requirements:
A minimum of 42 credits is required, exclusive of the freshman composition courses (Eng. 099, 101 and 103). The sequences of courses outside of the Department of English, as described below, are in addition to the 42 credits in English. Internships will be granted to majors in the program and to students in related disciplines with a QPA of at least 2.500. College Writing I (24101) is a prerequisite for all writing courses. Capstone Experiences
The Advanced Research Writing (Engl 409) should be regarded as the program's capstone course, in which students will engage in a major research project as well as contribute to the editing and production of publications. In addition, students must submit a portfolio of work produced while in the program to qualify for graduation.

Completion of 15 hours or more outside the English Department in a sequence from one department, or of a minor or major, in a subject other than English is required. The selection of outside must be approved by the student's English advisor and by the Chairperson of the English Department.
