Rules for Heritage Speakers: |
| Heritage
speakers will be exempt from the 100- and 200-level courses.
Heritage speakers shall take no more than 6 of the required 30
credits as credit by exam. It is assumed that the candidate
will comply with university policy for admittance regarding English
proficiency. The candidate will be assessed in accordance
with the department assessment policy. |

| Rationale: |
| Many times
heritage speakers show a level of competency in grammar and
conversation upon entering our program that corresponds to the
ideal graduate of our program. Thus, content-based courses
constitute the logical program concentration for these students.
