 SRU DANCE DEPARTMENT PLANS 11-WEEK ‘SATURDAY DANCE PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN’

          SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The dance department at Slippery Rock University opens an 11-week “Saturday Dance Program for Children” Jan. 31. The program, focused on teaching, exploring and learning, is open to those ages 3 through 12 and will be held in the McKay Education Building Dance Studio.

          Classes in “Creative Dance” are set for pre-kindergarten children ages 3 and 4 from 9:30 to 10 a.m.; tuition is $50. “Creative Dance for K-1^st Grade” will be offered those ages 5 and 6 from 10:15 to 11 a.m.; tuition, $60. Those ages 7 to 12 are offered “Beginning Tap and Jazz,” from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. or “Intermediate Tap and Jazz” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; tuition, $70. No classes will be held March 13 or April 10.

          The classes are non-competitive and are the only creative movement classes in the region. An informal studio performance for parents and friends is planned for April.
