Prelude to Kennedy Center Performance --

SRU TO HOST 500 DANCERS AT FOUR-DAY AMERICAN COLLEGE DANCE FESTIVAL

           SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s dance department will bring more than 500 dancers from 25 regional colleges and universities to campus when it hosts theAmerican College Dance Festival for the Northeast March 10-14. Some of the dancers will go on to perform at Washington, D.C.’s, Kennedy Center.

 The four-day event will offer dance classes, workshops, and adjudicated and informal concerts, as well as a free “Gala Concert” highlighting the best of the festival at 8 p.m. March 13 in Miller Auditorium.

Festival judges will include are Mark Taylor, Tiffany Mills and Helanius Wilkins, all established dance professionals, who will view 39 dances and provide feedback to the student and faculty choreographers. The adjudicators will also select the dances to be performed at the Kennedy Center in June.
