FLAMENCO DEL PILAR RETURNS TO SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY APRIL 19

           SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Flamenco del Pilar, a talented group of flamenco artists from the Pittsburgh area, will return to Slippery Rock University for an 8 p.m. performance April 19 in Swope Music Hall as part of the university’s second annual Kaleidoscope Arts Festival and the International Arts and Cultures Series.

          The group appeared last spring introduced the entire Slippery Rock community to flamenco, considered to be the national art form of Spain.

    Flamenco del Pilar is working to bring the flamenco arts to life throughout the region. The group has recently formed the Centro Flamenco dePittsburgh, which is working to increase awareness and teach flamenco culture in western Pennsylvania.

    Tickets are $5 for general admission; $3 for students. This event is sponsored by the Office of International Initiatives, the College of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts, the modern languages and cultures department, the dance department, Title VI European Studies Grant and the SRU Spanish Club.
