SRU SPRING FLUTE CONCERT TO FEATURE 20-MEMBER FLUTE CHOIR

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –  Slippery Rock University’s annual spring flute choir concert will feature a 20-member flute choir performing both traditional and contemporary compositions.

The 4 p.m. Sunday [April 25] concert, under the direction of Stacey Steele, will be held in Swope Music Hall. Admission is $3.

“Wind Dance,” by Todd Coleman, featured in the concert spatial effects and percussion, and for a change of pace three SRU senior flute majors, Rachel Mackanin of Moon Township, Jennifer Remaley of Berwick and Megan Rollins of Beaver Falls, will be featured as soloists on Vivaldi's “Spring.” The work will use the flute choir for the accompaniment.

Back by popular demand will be "Ball Games," by Michigan composer David Wells, and joining the flutists for the work will be SRU senior music major, magician and mime Chuck Lane of Pittsburgh.
