SRU SPRING
FLUTE CONCERT TO FEATURE 20-MEMBER FLUTE CHOIR
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s
annual spring flute choir concert will feature a 20-member flute
choir performing both traditional and contemporary
compositions.
The 4 p.m. Sunday [April 25] concert, under
the direction of Stacey Steele, will be held in Swope Music Hall.
Admission is $3.
“Wind
Dance,” by Todd Coleman, featured in the concert spatial
effects and percussion, and for a change of pace three SRU senior
flute majors, Rachel Mackanin of Moon Township, Jennifer Remaley of
Berwick and Megan Rollins of Beaver Falls, will be featured as
soloists on Vivaldi's “Spring.” The work will use the
flute choir for the accompaniment.
Back by popular demand will be "Ball
Games," by Michigan composer David Wells, and joining the flutists
for the work will be SRU senior music major, magician and mime
Chuck Lane of Pittsburgh.
