What is an elective?

Electives are simply the classes that you take that are not part of the Liberal Studies Program and/or major program requirements. Electives can bring your total hours earned to the minimum required to graduate or they may exceed the minimum hours required to graduate.

How many electives do students need?

The number of elective hours a student needs to meet minimum graduation requirements varies by major.

What is a "good" elective?

There are as many answers to this one as there are students, but a good elective is something that is intellectually challenging, interesting, fun, or beneficial to the student. What is fun, interesting, or beneficial depends on the individual student's interests, abilities, goals, and needs. No curriculum has room for a lot of electives, so exercise judgment when choosing these.
