SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Pittsburgh resident Dr. Adelle Williams, a tireless advocate for older adults who has worked in private practice and academia for more than 20 years, has been named coordinator of the Gerontology Program at Slippery Rock University.

SRU's Growing Honors Program Gets New Director
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s Honors Program has grown seven-fold. It now offers optional honors housing, 30 scholarships a year, independent study options that one student used to write a children’s book, job networking, as well as travel opportunities to Italy, England, Costa Rica and Ireland.

State System of Higher Education Selects Dr. Robet M. Smith as SRU President
Harrisburg – Following an 11-month nationwide search, the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Board of Governors has selected Dr. Robert M. Smith to serve as the next president of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Smith has served as Slippery Rock’s interim president since December 2002.

15th Annual Summer Creative, Performing Arts Academy Set at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A new study block in flute and a theme of identity and self-discovery through the arts mark the 15th Summer Creative and Performing Arts Academy July 12-23 at Slippery Rock University. High school students may commute or live on campus for two weeks of work in visual arts, jazz, dance, theater or creative writing. Applications for the all-day programs will be accepted through June 30.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University history Professor Dr. David Dixon will describe the local roots of the French and Indian War during a free program 7:30 p.m. Tuesday [May 11] at the Harmony Museum. The public is invited to help mark the 250th anniversary of the war.

SRU Student from Meadville Accepted into Prestigious Public Health Graduate Program
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Only one other civilian in the country holds up to the graduate school plans of Slippery Rock University senior Bethany Hemlock, of Meadville. She is one of two civilians accepted into the Master of Public Health Program at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, a prestigious program usually reserved for military personnel.
