Education
The program in comprehensive English is
designed to introduce the prospective teacher of English in the
secondary schools to the several areas of English. We expect
students to consult with advisors from the Department of English
and Secondary Education. The successful completion of the
prescribed program qualifies the student for certification to teach
English and related subjects.

Requirements:
Liberal Studies: 42-55
hours
In addition to Public Speaking (13200), 6
hours of Communication courses are required, including *COMM 13251,
Mass Media &Society (3 credits), and either **COMM
13215, Small Group Communication (3 credits) or ***COMM
13217, Intercultural Communication (3 credits).

***Enrichment course in "Cultural Diversity-Global
Perspective"
NOTE: Two courses recommended for Liberal
Studies are: Intro. to Theater (THEA 93141), which counts as a goal
course for "The Arts," and Cultural Minorities in Education (SEFE
15280), which counts as an enrichment course for "Human
Institutions/Interpersonal Relationships."
