SRU FACULTY PANEL
TO OFFER IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS OF EVENTS SURROUNDING
9-11
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –As
a way of keeping Slippery Rock University students abreast of
current events and as a way of providing in-depth analysis and
provoking critical thinking, its College of Humanities, Fine and
Performing Arts will sponsor a 3:30 p.m. Sept. 9 panel
discussionexamining the impact of the 9-11 attacks on
contemporary American politics, foreign policy and domestic
policy.
The free session will
be held in Strain Behavior Science Building
Auditorium.
The panel will include
political science faculty Dr. George Brown and Dr. Daniel McIntosh
along with Dr. David Champion, assistant professor of sociology,
anthropology and social work. Dr. William McKinney, dean of the
college will serve as moderator.
“We have planned
this provocative program as a way of providing students insights
into both the national and international ramifications of the Sept.
11, 2001 terrorist attack in New York City, Washington, D.C., and
Shanksville, Pa.,” explains McKinney. The panel discussion
will present a number of points of view, giving students
information and ideas for follow up discussion and debate related
to the World Trade Center attacks and the aftermath of their
destruction.
