SRU STRINGS INSTRUCTOR TO PRESENT CLASSIC WORKS IN FACULTY RECITAL

           SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Warren Davidson, instructor of music at Slippery Rock University, will offer a violin and viola concert at 8 p.m. Oct. 5 in the university’s Swope Recital Hall, including works by Geminiani, Kabalevsky, Schubert, Martucci, Schumann and others.

The concert is free for SRU students with a suggested donation of $5 to benefit the SRU music scholarship fund for all others.

Violin works will include, Francesco Geminiani’s “Sonata in A,” Dmitri Kabalevsky’s “Concerto” (1938), Gluck/Kreisler Melodie,” and Schubert’s "The Bee." The viola will be featured for Rebecca Clarke “Passacaglia on an Old English Tune” and Arthur Benjamin’s “Jamaican Rhumba.”

Glenn Utsch, assistant professor of music, will join Davidson for the concert.
