 Presidential Search Update 11-16-11

SPOTLIGHT

Nov. 16, 2011

To the University Community,

I am pleased to report that the Presidential Search Process is proceeding as planned and is poised to enter Phase II.

Phase I, the call for nominations, applications and the vigorous pursuit of high-quality candidates, closed Nov. 15. The process drew candidates from across the nation. It is clear that many in higher education are aware of SRU’s strong and positive reputation.

The search committee will thoroughly review each application with the goal of reducing the applicant pool to the most promising candidates. These candidates will then be invited to interview with the search committee at an off-campus location. We have scheduled these interviews in December.

Following the first round of interviews, the search committee hopes to identify approximately 5 candidates who will then be invited to Slippery Rock for a two-day comprehensive public interview. We expect to schedule on-campus interviews in early February.

As I communicated earlier, following the campus interviews, and based upon feedback from all University stakeholders, the Council of Trustees will forward the names of three candidates to the Chancellor and Board of Governors for their consideration.

The Chancellor and Board of Governors will name the next president. It remains our goal to have a new president in place summer 2012.

On behalf of the search committee, I want to thank each of you for your interest and participation in this very important process as together we work to find the most qualified person to be the 16th president of Slippery Rock University.

Regards,

Eric Holmes
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
Vice Chair, Council of Trustees
