Slippery Rock University Strategic Planning Committee

Introductions

President Robert M. Smith called the meeting to order and asked members to stand and introduce themselves to the group. 

President Smith also thanked the members for giving of their time to work on this important planning initiative. 

Slippery Rock University Comprehensive Strategic Planning

President Smith presented a power point presentation to explain the strategic planning process and provided steps to assist the group in developing a comprehensive strategic plan from existing planning documents already in place.  Also, there are a number of existing planning groups actively engaged on campus.  We will combine these useful resources to develop a comprehensive strategic plan.  (Attached – Appendix A)

Closing Remarks

President Smith invited comments or questions.  A question was posed as to whether it would be beneficial for members to focus on components of the planning based on their areas of expertise and interest.  Dr. Smith responding with affirmation that members should feel free to work on the components of the plan they feel would benefit from their experience and expertise.    Following brief discussion, President Smith adjourned the meeting.

The next meeting date of the Strategic Planning Committee is January 23, 2007.
