President Robert M. Smith called the meeting to order and asked for comments related to the draft comprehensive University Strategic Planning document. There was much discussion among members related to divisional strategic efforts.
Throughout the spring semester and throughout the summer, members of the campus community provided their comments as to how to progress in the process of university strategic management and planning.
On October 2, 2008, the steering committee is invited to participate in a national webinar, Seven Revolutions – Scanning the World Out to 2025. This webinar will discuss seven global trends facing our world:
Revolution 1 – Population
Revolution 2 – Resources
Revolution 3 – Technology
Revolution 4 – Information
Revolution 5 – Integration
Revolution 6 – Conflict
Revolution 7 – Governance
Following the webinar, we will discuss ways in which we can adapt these revolutions (trends) to our planning efforts at Slippery Rock University.
Closing Remarks
President Smith thanked the Steering Committee for their continued efforts in moving forward the strategic planning process for Slippery Rock University.

The next meeting date of the Strategic Planning Committee is TBD.
