Pursue professional program accreditations and reaccreditations to reach 100% of eligible programs accredited. (AA)

1. Complete ABET accreditation of programs in Computer Science and Information Systems.

2. Complete reaccreditations: BSN, MSN; AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), Slippery Rock University was the first school in the PASSHE to be accredited).

UPDATE      
1. Computer Science and Information Systems programs are currently undergoing the ABET accreditation process.  A decision is expected in July 2005.

1 .Complete ABET accreditation of programs in Computer Science

2. Complete NAST accreditation of programs in Theatre. 
Outcome:  19 of 26 programs (73.1%).  New accreditations earned this year (2005): Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) – Computer Science BS; Information Systems – Accounting BS; Information Systems – Economics BS; Information Systems – Finance BS; Information Systems – Management BS; Information Systems – Marketing BS; Resort Management; School Counseling; National Association of Schools of Theatre; Management Society’s Institute for Safety and Health Management.  

Outcome: Allocation resources for accredited programs
Resource allocations included:  $220,000 to provide three years of funding for an additional faculty member in the Department of Art; $118,000 of facility renovations to support NASAD accreditation; $60,000 to fund three years of alternative workload assignments and summer research contracts to support AACSB accreditation.

Reaccreditations earned this year (2005): Athletic Training Education Program; Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; and The National Council on Social Work Education has re-affirmed Slippery Rock University’s Social Work Program for eight years.

Reaccreditations earned this year (2006):  National Association of Schools of Dance for Dance;  National Recreation and Park Association/American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation Council on Accreditation (NRPA/AAPAR) for Park and Resource Management, BS, Resort Recreation Management/Tourism, BS, Therapeutic Recreation, BS; College of Education Teacher Education Programs re-authorized by Pennsylvania Department of Education (Elementary Education/Early Childhood, English, Environmental Education M Ed; Guidance and Counseling Elementary/Secondary,  Music, Nursing School Certification, Physical Education, Secondary Education/Science, Math, English, and Special Education); AAAHC (Accreditation for Ambulatory Health Care): reaccredited for three years, effective until March 2010. Re-Accreditation preparation for the self-study for the National Council on Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE) and campus visit for spring 2008 was in progress during the 2007 - 2008 academic year for the following programs: Elementary Education and Early Childhood (BSED); Elementary Mathematics and Science (M Ed); Elementary Education - Reading (M Ed); Secondary (M Ed); Music Education (BM); Physical Education, Teacher Education (BSED); Secondary Education (English BSED, Mathematics M Ed, Science M Ed, and Citizenship/Social Studies M Ed); Principal- ship (post M Ed) and Special Education (BSED & M Ed). At the NCATE exit review, the evaluation team notified SRU that all the standards have been met. Continued progress in meeting accreditation standards for National Council for Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Initiate Professional Development Schools that would allow SRU to collaborate with school districts across Western Pennsylvania, to provide a service to improve pre-service teacher education, further ongoing faculty development, enhance student learning, and engage in continuous inquiry. Offering the Master in Special Education online for supervisors and master teachers. Develop additional graduate level courses for online delivery. Move forward to receive American Chemical Society (ACS) recognition for the BA and BS chemistry programs. Attain North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, Inc. (NARAHA) certification for Storm Harbor Equestrian Center (SHEC). Information Technology program in the Department of Computer Science is in the process of preparing for ABET re-accreditation. School of Business received a successful first-year progress report from AACSB in January 2008 - pre-accreditation 5-year application process.

New Accreditations earned this year:  School of Physical Therapy Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) received accreditation.  .  Re-Accreditation preparation for the self-study for Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).  Maintain accreditations for 2009:  Middle State Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP), Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA/AALR), Institute for Safety and Health Management (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD), National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD), National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) The School of Business withdrew from the AACSB accreditation process and re-joined the ACBSP accreditation agency and entered the accreditation process with an expected completion date of November 2011. The Computer Science department is seeking accreditation for the IT program as part of the fall 2010 ABET accreditation visit to renew accreditation for the Computer Science and Information Systems programs. The Student Counseling Center has been approved for an accreditation field visit by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS).
