|Laura Ordaz, a physics/pre-engineering major from Cooperstown, PA was appointed to the Slippery Rock University Council of Trustees August 14, 2013.
Laura has served in many leadership roles on campus. She was the North Hall House Council President in 2012 and an SRSGA senator. Laura is currently a community assistant and completed the First year Leader Scholar Program in 2012. She is a Board of Governors scholarship recipient.
As a community assistant, Laura leads presentations on a variety of topics including safe living practices, diversity and inclusion, healthy relationships, and the importance of getting involved on campus. Additional responsibilities include enforcing residence life and university polices, and various administrative duties including the completion of maintenance requests, incident reports, and room transfers.
A 2011 graduate of Oil City High School, Laura was President of FCCLA, Leadership Council, National Honor Society, and Stand Tall (an organization for those living above the influence of drugs and alcohol).
In her spare time, Laura volunteers her time to wildlife preservation with the organization, The Awesome Spirit of Wildlife (TASOW) and has volunteered with the Office of Students with Disabilities on campus.
Laura appreciates the incredible opportunities SRU offers students to become involved in worthwhile causes, make friends, and make a difference. She values her work with peers in service to the university and local communities and considers such opportunities as memorable and important highlights of her college experience.
