The Exploratory Program is designed to work with students who have not yet decided on a major program.

The Exploratory Program helps students explore their interests, identify their strengths and define career goals in order to guide them toward the major that fits them best.

When trying to decide on a major, consider whether or not each major:

-Requires classes that I do well in.
-Will be really fun and interesting.
-Has a positive job outlook and growth in the field.
-Builds on my skills and teaches me new ones.
-Is acceptable to my parents, friends, spouse, etc.
-Is consistent with my values and lifestyle.
-Uses college credits I already have.

Here is an example action plan for students trying to decide on a major:

-First, get to know the major programs available to you.
-Get first-hand experience and experiment with different introductory courses that interest you.
-Evaluate what you've learned so far about what you like, don't like and the areas that you do best in.
-Evaluate the majors you're considering and see which ones fit best with your interests and abilities.
-Research the requirements necessary for the majors you're considering, including prerequisites, minimum required QPA, credits needed to graduate, freedom to take electives, etc.
-Talk to faculty and advisors in the department you are considering, consult with students already majoring in the program, or sit in on a class to get a better idea of what the major is about.
-Visit the career center on campus to get a better idea of the kinds of jobs available in the major areas you are considering.
