Careers in Psychology Psychologists are employed a wide variety of settings. In addition to clinical practice and research positions, psychologists are also employed in a variety of government and industrial settings. Industrial/Organizational psychologists, for instance, are frequently employed by corporations to assist in selection of personnel. Human factors psychologists are employed by military and private research laboratories to assist in the design and development of everything from cockpit seats to computer software interfaces.  Because of the need for specialized training, most careers in Psychology require a graduate degree.
