» Two from SRU Included in 'Pittsburgh Masters V' Show at Pittsburgh Center
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University Art Professor Glen Brunken, and Professor Emeritus of Art Akiko Kotani are among 10 Pittsburgh area artists selected to show their works as part of the “Pittsburgh Masters V” show at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in Shadyside.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –  Dr. Alondra Oubre, a medical anthropologist and author of “Instinct and Revelation,” will lecture on “The Fuzzy Things Called ‘Races’” at 4 p.m. April 6 in Spotts World Cultures Building Auditorium as part of her visit to Slippery Rock University.

» SRU Professsor to Offer Free Recital, Including Salute to Fanny Mendelssohn
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Dr. Nanette Kaplan Solomon, professor of music at Slippery Rock University, will perform a free, solo faculty recital at 4 p.m. Sunday [April 3] in Swope Recital Hall offering a mix of 19th and 20th century works and include a tribute to the 200th anniversary of the birth of composer Fanny Mendelssohn.

   SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –  Slippery Rock University will salute more than 2,100 SRU students for their outstanding academic achievements along with a number of faculty and staff for their academic and support work as part of this year’s annual Academic Honors Convocation set for 2 p.m. April 3 in Morrow Field House.

» Memories of 19-Year-Old African-American Army Sergeant to Recount Liberation of Buchewald
  SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Dr. Leon Bass, who as a 19-year-old African-American sergeant in the U.S. Army was a liberator of the infamous Buchenwald concentration camp, will deliver the keynote address when Slippery Rock University hosts its 11th annual “Holocaust Remembrance Program” on April 5.

» McKeever Center to Add Windmill for Electricity, Lesson on Clean Energy
SANDY LAKE, Pa. – McKeever Environmental Learning Center has received a $34,154 state grant to install an electricity-producing windmill and launch an exhibit explaining alternative energy sources to visitors, including students from across western Pennsylvania.

 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Saying that it “will forever change our campus,” Slippery Rock University President Robert M. Smith reported to the university’s council of trustees that construction of replacement residence halls is scheduled to start in May.
