Beginning with the 2004-05 academic year, SRU is pleased to be able to offer a tuition reduction for eligible out-of-state undergraduate students. This tuition reduction results in a substantial savings. Eligible students pay 150% of in-state tuition cost which is reflected on their billing statement. Students who are ineligible for the tuition reduction in 2004-05 can become eligible in subsequent academic years if they meet all eligibility requirements at that time as detailed below.

Crediting of the Non-Resident Tution Reduction:  All out-of-state undergraduate students are billed by the Office of Student Accounts at the appropriate non-resident tuition rate each semester. Students who are eligible for the Non-Resident Tuition Reduction will see the credit on their student account and billing statement in the amount of the reduction each semester.

Eligibility Requirements

The "Non-Resident Tuition Reduction" is available to eligible students who are:

  • U.S. citizens whose state of residency is other than Pennsylvania, and
  • enrolled full-time at SRU (at least 12 credit hours for any term),
  • pursuing a first bachelor's degree, and
  • who meet QPA requirements (specifications below), and
  • who are billed at the regular, undergraduate non-resident tuition rate.
Eligibility for SRU Students
  • New freshman must have a 3.0 high school QPA on their final, official high school transcript as received by the Office of Admissions.
  • New transfer students with 12 or more credits earned must have a 3.0 cumulative QPA on all post-secondary coursework.
  • Continuing SRU Students must have a 3.0 SRU cumulative QPA and must have earned at least 24 new credits in the prior academic year.

No separate application is required. Eligibility for continuing SRU Students is determined annually through the Office of Financial Aid based upon a student's academic record at SRU. Initial eligibility is determined after the Spring Semester. Final eligibility is determined immediately prior to the start of the Fall Semester and will include any coursework taken in the Summer Term.
