Park and
Resource Management Program Outcomes
This program resides in the
Department of Parks, Recreation and Environmental
Education
1. Upon completion of the program, the
student will have integrated knowledge, skills and abilities
necessary to manage areas and facilities in a variety of park
settings. This educational outcome includes the identification of
management needs, as well as the ability to implement plans to
accomplish management goals.
2.
To interact and communicate with a broad spectrum of the population
using appropriate communication and technology skills for a clear
exchange of ideas and information. These skills include those
useful in a variety of professional and public settings involving
verbal, nonverbal and graphic forms of communication along with the
appropriate technological tools.
3.
To manage people both as park visitors and those related to the
park and resource management mission. This includes the acquisition
of knowledge and its application to a variety of professional and
social situations involved, the demonstration of skills with the
delivery of appropriate people management in a variety of park
settings, and the abilities to accomplish management
goals.
4.
The ability to resolve complex situations involving natural and
cultural resources through subjective and objective assessment and
reasoning. Essential to the achievement of the outcomes a
foundation of knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding park and
recreation resources combined with the ability to think critically
and address challenges creatively.
