SRU VICE PRESIDENT NAMED FINALIST FOR CFO OF
THE YEAR
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.
– Dr. Charles Curry, Slippery Rock University vice president
for finance and administration, has been selected as a finalist in
the Pittsburgh Business Times’ Chief Financial Officer of the
Year awards program in the nonprofit category.
“Charles
Curry has demonstrated his leadership in managing a complex budget
within a complex system. Additionally, managing public funds
requires a very special trust in that all of your accounts are
public records. Being CFO at a university is more than managing the
accounts and recording losses and gains. This is a well-deserved
honor for Charles and he is in distinguished company,” said
SRU President Robert Smith.
Curry and his staff
were cited for the fiscal management that has enabled SRU to add
faculty and embark on the largest amount of new construction at one
time on campus, all while maintaining excellent financial
ratios.
Other finalists in
the nonprofit category are: Diane Buirge, North Hills Community
Outreach; Andrew Mangene, Presbyterian Senior Care; Frederick
Massey, Family Links; David Samuel, West Penn Allegheny Health
System; and George Sandora, Alle-Kiski Medical Center. They will be
honored at the CFO of the Year Awards Dinner at Pittsburgh’s
Omni William Penn, Nov. 2, at which the winners in six categories
will be announced.
