Printing DARS on Your PC Printer
Start-up CICS as you normally do but DO NOT open a VM session in
VTAM/SWITCH. Instead, open a second TCP3270 session like
this:
- Click on FILE
- Click on OPEN SESSION
- Click on CONNECT (The
SRUVM logo screen will appear)
- Logon to a VM account (Your personal account or
UNnnnnn)
- Enter:
RPRINT (At
the READY; prompt)
- Click on WINDOW
(Above the tool-bar)
- Click on 1-SESS
(This will take you back to CICS)
Now in CICS enter transaction DA06 and press ENTER.
This will give you a screen formatted to order a DARS report.
Put the VM userid that you used above in the space marked
PRINTER ID/VM USERID. Your DARS report will be sent to
that logon and RPRINT will print it.
You may have to wait several minutes before it starts
printing.
If you wish to get back to the VM session then click on WINDOW
and choose 2-SESS. Then press F3 to exit RPRINT. Then
you can use WATFILE or whatever. When you are finished be
sure to restart RPRINT. Then it will be ready for the next
DA06. You can let RPRINT run all day if you wish.
If you don’t have a printer you can still print DARS
reports. Have your secretary start RPRINT and send your DA06
to her VM userid.
Printing DARS on your MAC Printer
Follow the above instructions except for step 5. Enter
RPRINT (MAC
Trouble Shooting
If you did DA06 and nothing prints after several minutes:
- Did you start up RPRINT?
- Is the printer turned on?
- Did you use the same VM userid in the DA06 and VM?
Call me and ask for assistance.
If you are using Windows-95 then some configuration options may
have to be changed before you can print DARS. Please call me
and I can talk you through the changes.
