The reasons people give to Slippery
Rock University are as numerous as the donors themselves. One
thing is for certain - the 'Culture of Giving' has begun at
Slippery Rock University. Discover how your gift can make a
difference by:
Attracting talented students:They shape universities, recruiting higher-quality classes
and elevating regional and national reputation. Eighty academic
standouts - some wtih grade-point averages above 4.0 - began their
first year at Slippery Rock University this fall thanks to the
University's new Merit Scholarship. Meet
Nikki Gwin, one of these students.
Honoring faculty: Many graduates attribute their success to the
influence of a particular faculty member. This was the case
with Dr. Susan Tritt, a doctor in California. She fondly
remembers faculty member Dr. Thomas Gaither from the biology
department. In his honor, Dr. Tritt established the Dr.
Thomas Gaither Scholarship. Through annual gifts to the fund, a
deserving student is receiving financial aid and Dr. Tritt is able
to show her gratitude to a deserving mentor.
Creating a legacy: Don
and Terry Phillips are both Slippery Rock University graduates who
value the education they received here. Through their generosity,
the Don and Terry Phillips Scholarship has been created. The
scholarship is awarded each year to an education major and will
continue in perpetuity to honor the Phillips.
Receive tax benefits: Giving can positively impact your income tax or estate
tax situation.
