» Editor's Advisory: Sept. 5 Academic Assembly
Slippery Rock University President Dr. Robert Smith will host the universitys annual Academic Assembly at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday [Sept. 5] as the opening of fall semester 2006-07. The event will be held in the main auditorium of SRU's new Advanced Technology and Science Hall. The event will include Dr. Smith's vision for the coming year and an introduction of new faculty.

 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The opening of Slippery Rock University’s new, three-story, $14.5-million Advanced Technology and Science Hall will be formerly marked with the four-part lecture celebration “Science and Technology in the New Age” running the week of Sept. 11.

» SRU to Begin International Alumni Speaker Series Sept. 7
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Mohammad Nasib, a Slippery Rock University graduate working to promote peace in Afghanistan, will deliver “Afghanistan Today” at SRU on Sept. 7, the first speaker for the university’s new “International Alumni Speaker Series.”

» SRU Dance Faculty to Perform in Tango Festival, Pittsburgh
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University dance faculty Jennifer Keller will perform a “video tango” on the second night of the Aug. 25-27 Artango II festival in Pittsburgh’s cultural district. The celebration of Latin culture includes dance performances, dance workshops, live music and visual arts.

» SRU Play 'Dark North' Triumphs in Scotland; Campus Performance Set for Aug. 29
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- After presenting the play to five-star reviews at the 60th Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, Slippery Rock University theater majors will present the supernatural horror “Dark North” at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29 in Miller Auditorium. SRU’s David Skeele, professor of theater, wrote the play, which reviewers described as “mesmerizing.”

» Individual Kingston Trio Tickets on Sale Monday for SRU Peformance
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Individual tickets for The Kingston Trio’s Sept. 15 concert at Slippery Rock University go on sale Monday, [Aug. 14], the opening event for the university’s 2006-2007 Performing Arts Series. The folk group has released more than 30 albums and is expected to perform a number of hits, including “Lemon Tree” and “Blowin’ in the Wind.”
