Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI or STD) Testing for Men

The Student Health center provides free testing for sexually transmitted infections in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Basic tests include chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV testing. Tests are free and confidential.

You may call the Student Health Center (724-738-2052) for an appointment with a nurse practitioner who will perform the exam. Please plan on an appointment lasting 30-45 minutes. During that time, the nurse practitioner can help you determine the specific tests you would like to have done.

Your options and what you need to know:
  • Chlamydia/Gonorrhea - You will need to provide a urine specimen at your appointment. Do not urinate for at least one hour prior to your exam. The specimen will be sent to a lab and results will be available within a week.
  • Syphilis/HIV - A blood sample is taken at the time of your appointment and sent to a lab. Results are available within a week.
  • Herpes/Genital Warts(HPV) - The nurse practitioners are also trained at examining the skin for signs of herpes and human papilloma virus lesions.
