If you are interested in attaining, not a job, but a year of experience in the world of service then this is the right choice for you.

Applications are accepted through July but interviews begin in April and continuing until all positions are filled. The term will begin in late August for all members and partnerships. All members attend a multi-day orientation and a monthly development workshop.

1. Apply!- Applications available online (under Forms) and at the Lowry Center at Slippery Rock University. Print and complete application now!

2. Interview- after your application has been reviewed you will be contacted for a 30-60 minute in person or phone interview.

3. Making the Commitment- if after the interview both you and the director feel that you would be a good candidate for a position as a Connector Corps member at SRU then you will have to complete some paper work such as:

Criminal Background Check- can be done online or by mail. Papers available at the Lowry Center

Child Abuse Screening- can only be done by mail. Papers available at the Lowry Center

4. Orientation- all members must attend a week long orientation prior to the start of the school year that will equip them with the knowledge and resources to begin the year of service.

5. Serving Others!- Once the year has begun it will your responsibility to set up programs of your own which will serve recognized populations in need.

Prospective Partner Agencies

Sixteen agencies, including SRU, host Connector Corps AmeriCorps members. Each site provides a partnership fee for each member placed with the agency ($2,500 for half time and $4,500 for full time). Day to day member activities are overseen by the agency site mentor. Partner applications are reviewed a selected based on how well the project fits the Connector Corps vision and mission, agency support for the project, and Corps availability. New partners may participate mid-year depending upon member availability.

SRU Institute Alumni
If you have ever been to the Lowry Center at Slippery Rock, perhaps volunteered on a weekly basis as a tutor, or spent your spring break serving others across the nation, or worked all year long practically living there while you fulfilled your duty as an AmeriCorps member... then you know what it is like to be part of something everlasting.
We honor those who have served with us at the Institute, even for a day, giving their time to help others. This web page is for those who have committed themselves to service. In hopes to facilitate the continuation of service, this web page also is here to serve as a communication tool between alumni members.
