SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY TO PRESENT HARVEST
FEST
AT SLIPPERY ROCK AREA MARKET GARDEN OCT.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.
– Harvest Fest, a new event for the regional community, will
be held at the Slippery Rock Area Farmers’ Market in downtown
Slippery Rock from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 28 to celebrate
October’s biggest fruit -- the pumpkin.
The event is being
sponsored by Slippery Rock University’s Robert A. Macoskey
Center for Sustainable Systems and Research. The market, which
offers locally grown produce throughout summer, is located in
Slippery Rock’s downtown park.
The free festival
will include food, fun and activities for the children. There will
be face painting, pumpkin decorating, mystery boxes and more. The
story reading of “Pumpkin Pumpkin” written by
Jeanne Titherington and read by Becky Vigolilotti of Slippery
Rock, will be at 10:30 a.m. and the reading of “Big
Pumpkin,” written by Erica Silverman and read by Stephanie
Anderson of New Kensington, will be at 11:30 a.m. Both Vigolilotti
and Anderson are elementary education majors at SRU.
Refreshments,
including pumpkin pie and cider, will be served compliments of the
Macoskey Center throughout the event.
