PRESIDENT’S INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT

2008 Request for Proposals

 

Purpose: 

To financially support the professional development of SRU faculty and professional staff in an international setting.

Amount of Award:

Eight $1,000.00 awards are available for 2008

Eligibility:

  1. Full-time tenure-track faculty and full-time professional staff.
  2. Fundable activities include research, presentation of paper, performance, conference  attendance though other activities may also be considered.
  3. Activity must be completed in the 2008 calendar year.
  4. Activity must be completed outside the US and US territories.

Criteria:

Applications will be judged upon:

    • professional merit
    • relevance to applicant’s profession and SRU
    • eligibility factors as above

Preference will be given to:

    • faculty and staff members with less than five years SRU experience
    • those who have not received this award in the past five years
    • activities that have a confirmed acceptance at the time of application

 

1.    Completed application form must be submitted to the International Services Office, 114 Carruth Rizza Hall, no later than March 7, 2008. Note that this is during spring break.

2.    A proposal describing the project (two pages maximum) written in lay terms and detailing the relevance to you and SRU must accompany the application form.  (Note that reviewers come from multiple disciplines across campus, and for example, that scientists do not always fully comprehend literary abstracts and vice versa.)

3.      Evidence documenting acceptance of presentation/performance/project must be submitted with the application unless received thereafter, in which case it should be forwarded when it becomes available. (This requirement was implemented in 2007.)

4.      As applicable, documentation regarding the percentage of papers/performances accepted for conference sessions must be submitted with the application.  Data from previous year(s) is acceptable.  (Also implemented in 2007.)

5.    SRU’s Travel Request form must be completed with signatures from department level through the President, no later than 30 days prior to departure.  If your participation in this professional development activity is dependent upon this funding and your travel date is in late spring or early summer, you should submit the Travel Request form with as much detail as possible at the time of application to meet this 30 day requirement.  In the unfortunate event that your project is not funded and you cannot participate, you can cancel the Travel Request.

6.      Recipients must submit a follow-up report to the International Services Office within 30 day of completion of the project.
