Michelle Ruiz is a new faculty member here in the Physical Education Department. Born and raised in Indiana PA, she completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University of PA as a student-athlete and graduated in 1995. She moved to Northern Virginia where she taught and coached high school health and physical education for 7 years. She completed her graduate studies at Virginia Tech while teaching full time. In 2003 she married and moved to Florida with her husband Keith, later traveling to California and eventually settling in North Carolina, near New River Air Station where her husband was stationed. She coached and taught high school health and physical education for the past 4 years. She has a one year old daughter named Allyson. Also part of the family are their two husky-mixes Koda and Logan who love to run and hike with them when they have a chance to get away. She is currently applying for admission into a doctoral program and hopes to finish her terminal degree in the next few years.
