Emeritus art professor opens Barcelona exhibition today

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. Akiko Kotani, professor emeritus of art, opens an exhibit of her works on paper today at the contemporary gallery mx espai 1010 in Barcelona, Spain.

Mx espai 1010 is a public gallery for the diffusion of contemporary art. Since its 1998 opening, the gallery has shown works by national and international artists. Today’s opening includes the work of  Marie-Dominique Guibal.

Kotani prepared for the exhibit in Istanbul, Turkey, which she said is a delightful launching ground. “The weather has just turned to a mild breeze off the Black Sea. Needless to say this is a lovely place to land. Food is eaten next to a sweeping view of the Bosphorus River that is one to treasure,” she said.

Kotani retired from SRU in 2000 and has remained active as a paper and fiber artist.
