Donations totaling $20,939.15 to help support the hospital�s pediatric cancer research.

»	Critical Mass bicycle event promotes clean transportation SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. � Bicyclists will take to the streets en masse Friday when the Slippery Rock University Cycling Club and other campus groups sponsor a Critical Mass ride to promote reliance on petroleum-free transportation. The bike ride will begin at 6 p.m. in front of SRU�s Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center and is open to the public. No reservations are required.
»	SRU students organize first green bike, music festival for April 5 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. � While doing something for the environment once meant just recycling newspapers or plastics, Slippery Rock University students are taking greening to a new level by making it part of their everyday life � including transportation. To help spread the word about the value of greening, several campus groups have come together to organize the University�s first Leave It Green Bike and Music Festival on April 5.
»	Alumna becomes first lay Cardinal Stritch University president SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Helen Sobehart, a 1972 Slippery Rock University graduate, has been named the first lay president of Cardinal Stritch University. The 71-year-old institution with an enrollment of 6,900 is in Milwaukee.

»	Rock students place as finalists in multi-state competition SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. � Slippery Rock University students grabbed two of the five finalist rankings at the Allegheny College and The New York Times Presidential Primary Reform Conference. The competition, staged at Allegheny College, asked students from universities in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and New Hampshire to suggest a plan for reforming the presidential primaries. »	Science projects earn budding scientists SRU scholarships SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. � Adam Dobson, a Seneca Valley High School senior, and Kathie Richey, Kennedy Catholic High, Sharon, junior, were named the top science students at the 2008 Region IX Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Competition at Slippery Rock University. Both received four-year, SRU scholarships totaling $24,000 for their efforts.
»	SRU polishes test tubes, beakers as high school scientists assemble SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. � More than 500 junior high and high school scientists will be on the Slippery Rock University campus Feb. 23 to demonstrate their understanding of science and compete for scholarships as part of a daylong Region IX meeting of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science.
»	SRU music faculty bring smiles to faces of children in war-torn Kosovo SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. ��The turmoil of a prolonged national war shows in the faces of children, but can be lessened by the universal love of music,� said Stacey Steele, assistant professor of music at Slippery Rock University, who spent part of her academic sabbatical working with youngsters in what is now the newly independent country of Kosovo.
