SFC Ricardo R. Saspe, a native of Nogales, Arizona, entered active duty on 29 August 1995 at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he completed Cavalry Scout One Station Unit Training.  SFC Saspe hails from a family of military veterans. SFC Saspe has served in a variety of assignments and positions.

SFC Saspe’s assignments include Scout Driver, Gunner, Anti-Armor Gunner and Squad Leader, Squad Leader, Section Sergeant and Regimental Deep Reconnaissance Team, I Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment; Field Recruiter Phoenix Recruiting BN, with duty in Tucson, Arizona; Operations NCO, Senior Scout, and Platoon Sergeant Troop D, 4th Cavalry (Brigade Recon Troop 1/1 Infantry Division).

SFC Saspe’s operational deployments include one deployment to Camp McGovern, Bosnia-Hercegovina in support of Operation Joint Endeavor/Guard 1997-1998. Two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom: FOB Junction City, Ar Ramadi 2003-2004 and COB Speicher, Tikrit 2006-2007. 

SFC Saspe’s military education include: Combat Life Saver, Bradley Transition Course, National Registered Emergency Medical 

Technician Course, Basic Recruiter Course, Primary Leadership Development Course (Commandant’s List), Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Maneuver-Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course (Commandant’s List/Draper Award Recipient), Unit Movement Officer Course, Air Force Air Lift Planner Course, and the Air Assault Course.

SFC Saspe’s awards and decorations include: Army Gold Recruiter Badge w/ 3 Sapphire Stars, Driver's Badge (Wheel), NATO Medal (Former Yugoslavia), Overseas Service Ribbon numeral “2”, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon numeral “3”, Armed Forces Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal w/ Gold Star, Army Good Conduct Medal 4th Award, Army Achievement Medal 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal w/ Valor Device, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and the Combat Action Badge. SFC Saspe is also a member of the Order of the Spur and the Excellence in Armor Program.
