If you have answered "yes" to one or more of these questions, you may want to check out the B.S. in Health Services Administration offered through the Department of Professional Studies at Slippery Rock University.

Healthcare is one of today's most dynamic and growing fields. According to the Department of Labor, the healthcare field is the largest employer in the United States, and this is expected to continue well into the future. There are many, many opportunities for clinical (doctors, nurses, physician's assistants, etc.) AND non-clinical personnel (areas such as management, administration, human resources, finance, public relations, etc.).

The Health Services Administration Program at Slippery Rock University has been in existence for over twenty years. We have successfully prepared students to take on decision-making roles within the health care environment. Graduates may take jobs in a variety of health care facilities, including hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, healthcare technology companies, government and community agencies and organizations to name a few examples. Employment positions may vary, but include work in areas of management with duties such as planning and coordinating departmental activities to personnel and staffing, purchasing, public relations, fund raising, and program evaluation. Health Service Administrators are an important part of the healthcare team and work closely with a variety of healthcare professionals and health consumer populations

In addition to giving you excellent opportunities for entry-level employment, our program also provides you with the option to explore clinical careers, such as nursing, physician's assistant, physical therapy, etc. It also gives you the flexibility to pursue graduate school, should you want to advance your education after graduation.

If you would like to know more, the American College of Healthcare Executives is an another source of valuable information. Follow the Health Management Careers and Your Career as a Healthcare Executive for more information. Another excellent source of information is located on the web site of the U.S. Department of Labor. Once there, follow the Healthcare link. We can also give you the names and contact information of current students and graduates to talk with...they may be helpful in providing you with information to help you decide if this program is for you. You are also welcome to contact me.

You owe it to yourself to take full advantage of your time here at Slippery Rock University. What better way to do that than to pursue a degree that gives you so many options? Come in and let's talk. Let me show you what the degree can do for you in terms of jobs, salaries, and much more!
